Real Oviedo and David Costas have reached an agreement to extend the Galician defender's contract with the Carbayón entity until June 2028. In this way, the Club ensures the continuity of one of the team's captains and a key player in the present and future of the blue squad.
At 30 years old, David Costas has established himself as one of the leaders in the Oviedo dressing room and as one of the leaders of the defense. Captain of the team and an example on and off the pitch, the Chapela native has demonstrated his commitment, performance, and passion for Real Oviedo in every season, a Club he now considers the one of his life.
Trained in the youth ranks of Chapela, David Costas made the leap to professional football with RC Celta de Vigo, with whom he debuted in the top tier of Spanish football. His progression led him to establish himself in the first team of Celta, as well as gaining experience with clubs such as RCD Mallorca, Barça B, and UD Almería, before starting his first stint at Real Oviedo.
In his return to Carlos Tartiere, David Costas has grown to become an indispensable piece. Since then, he has surpassed 150 official matches wearing the blue jersey, contributing defensive solidity, leadership, authority, ball distribution, and great aerial ability. His performance has been crucial in the promotion to the First Division and he is one of the most recognized players in the team's return to the elite of Spanish football.
David Costas has chosen to continue growing alongside Real Oviedo, defending colors he feels as his own and a Club he has dedicated himself to from day one. His continuity symbolizes the identity, ambition, and pride of Oviedismo, which sees itself reflected in a player who understands what it means to wear the blue jersey.
