On Saturday afternoon, Real Oviedo Vetusta drew 0-0 on their trip to Condal Club and, following Marino’s draw and Langreo’s defeat, they were crowned champions of Grupo II of the Tercera División.
Javi Rozada’s side emerged onto the pitch at the Alejandro Ortea convinced that they would be able to pick up the three points to increase their advantage over the chasing pack and move themselves closer to the title. They faced a Condal Club who turned it into a difficult game for them, despite Vetusta being in control and creating the best chances. The match ended in a 0-0 draw. This point proved to be enough to enable the team to celebrate the title with two weeks still remaining in the competition, thanks to favourable results in Llanes and Luanco, and saw Real Oviedo Vetusta became champions of the Tercera for the first time in 28 years. The Carbayón side last managed this achievement during the 90-91 season, with Miguel Sánchez the Coach.
Despite now having the title wrapped up, the Real Oviedo B team still have to play the last two matches of the regular season. They face San Martín at home this weekend, before bringing the season to an end away at Llanes in two weeks’ time.
Real Oviedo Juvenil B won 0-3 in Mieres against Caudal Deportivo, with goals from Diego, Álvaro and Adrián. This victory saw the side stay immersed in the fight for first place. They are currently two points off,
and they face Llanes next.
Real Oviedo Cadete A triumphed 1-3 in Gijón against TSK Roces, with Alex, Roberto and Óscar on the scoresheet. Cadete A are currently in second place and play SD Llano 2000 during the next matchday.
Real Oviedo Cadete B secured an 8-0 victory against Villa de Pravia. The goalscorers were Flores, Pablo (3), Miguel, Enol, Manu and Hugo. This win saw Cadete B stay second in the table, with the next match seeing them come up against Astur CF.
Real Oviedo Infantil A picked up a convincing 6-0 win over SD Llano 2000 at Tensi. Osky, Mario, Nacho, Borja (2) and Mario F (2) were on the mark in this game. Infantil A are second in the division and will play Juventud Estadio next.
Infantil B won 0-2 on their trip to play Astur CF B, with goals from Joel and Pelayo. This victory saw the side maintain a lofty position in the table ahead of their next match against UD Llanera at home.
Real Oviedo Alevín A were 0-4 victors over TSK Roces. Unai and Adri both notched braces in this match. Alevín A are top of their league, two points ahead of Sporting de Gijón, and their next fixture is against Juventud Estadio C.
Meanwhile, Real Oviedo Alevín B triumphed 11-1 over CD Covadonga C, withgoals from Nacho, Miguel, Pablo Llana (2), Pablo, Aarón (3), Hugo (2) and Edu. They are currently second, and their next encounter sees them up against Astur CF B.
