Real Oviedo centre back Carlos Hernández today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, ahead of the first team's training session. Having overcome his injury and returned to training with the squad, the defender declared that "I'm fine. I've trained in one session and we'll see how the week goes. The Coach and the medical staff will decide, but I'm feeling good personally."
With regard to his evaluation of the first half of the season, Carlos Hernández reasoned that "it's been good. It was bad last year, but now we still have time to do anything. We have to put in a second half of the season which allows us to be up there."
Ahead of the weekend's match, which will see Los Azules welcome Mallorca, and discussing the impact that the league standings may have on the encounter, the defender explained that "it's true that the strongest teams seem clear. They're right up there in the table, but this division is even and it's a long season. We are doing well and improving, and we can have a good season. I don't think we should get ahead of ourselves. We still have time to do anything, but we have to get something from these next two matches, and then put in a second half of the season which allows us to fight towards the top of the table."
Finally, regarding the competition in the defence, Carlos Hernández highlighted that "there are four of us, we are experienced, and we compete well. The Coach knows it and tries to pick whoever is doing best. The four of us are in top condition and we can all do a good job."
