Real Oviedo player Carlos Hernández made an appearance in the press room at El Requexón after a practice session.
After three weeks of training in which strategy has played an important role in each session, the defender believes that, “There are new guys coming in and it’s important to grasp what the coach wants. We need to make sure things are clear and be familiar with the way he works, that’s how things usually go. We know what he wants, we know him and that’s good. We have to be prepared to work hard. We must grasp the system, by being aware that we need to be organized in order to play football.” In addition, regarding the new additions, Carlos Hernández understands that, “Everybody wants to play football well. We’ve brought in players that know how to play football, they’re quality players, and they control the ball well. I knew them, we made the right choice. It’s important to keep possession of the ball, and with them we are going to be closer to that.”
When asked about the goal-scoring aspect and if he would score many goals this season, the player from Jaén stated that, “The important thing is to get off to a good start to the year and just take it one goal at a time. It’s not easy so we’ll see how things end up.”
In light of the imminent draw of the calendar for next season, the Carbayón defender stated that, “We can’t make any bets, since nobody ever knows what could happen. Beforehand the teams that come down from Primera are usually the favorites, but there are always surprises. Whether we’re at home or away, every victory is worth the same three points, the important thing is to start off by winning.”
Finally, Carlos stated about his choice of rivals that, “The three teams that are coming down are rivals from Primera, some good pitches. And then there’s the derby that is special. That’s always an important match,” the player from Jaén concluded.
