The centre back said that, “when you win you look at everything differently”, and that “we are still fighting for our objective”

Real Oviedo defender, Carlos Hernández, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón following the team’s training session.

Following the triumph over Nàstic de Tarragona, Carlos Hernández stated that, “when you win you look at everything differently. You enjoy the day-to-day routine more and everything is better. There are seven games to go, and we are still up there, fighting for our objective.”

Talking about the victory and how it will affect the remainder of the season, the defender said that, “it’s always good to win, but we mustn’t relax. This division doesn’t gift you anything. We need to take it one game at a time and we are up there. The team is doing well and confident. We are playing at home again and we are going to perform.”

With respect to the change in formation, having moved from playing with three centre backs to just two, Carlos Hernández emphasised that, “whichever formation it is, it involves running. The team gives everything.
We are all pushing in the same direction and doing things well. We are improving and being solid, and we need to keep going like this. Being up there makes us aware that we can achieve anything, and that we mustn’t relax. There are seven games to go and we need to do things well.”

Asked about the next opponent, Real Valladolid, the defender believes that, “they are a good team with good players. They do things in the right way. It will be a difficult match, but we are at home and we need to be strong. We need to commit as few errors as possible. We hope that Mata isn’t on form and that things don’t go his way. He’s a good player, who scores goals and shows good movement. We need to be solid, run, and make the most of our chances; that is the key to Friday.”

Finally, asked whether he preferred playing with four or five defenders, Carlos Hernández argued that, “first of all you have to defend and make as few mistakes as possible. I feel comfortable either way. If we all work hard then the team functions,” he concluded.
