Real Oviedo's Uruguayan midfielder, Gastón Brugman, appeared in the Press Room this morning. He analysed the team's situation and his own, having scored and got an assist in the most recent match. "I am very happy with how my team is doing right now. The win brings us calm for the week." Asked whether this victory had particular importance following defeat in the cup, the Uruguayan said that "I believe so, but this team has always stuck together. The most important thing is for the group to always be united and always fight to win every match, at every ground. When Borja (Bastón) scored the third goal we felt liberated and it was only right for us all to celebrate together. We win together and lose together. That's the important thing."
With respect to his understanding with his usual central midfield partner, Jimmy, Brugman said "I feel very good playing alongside him. We feel like one out on the pitch. It's important to feel good, and also for him to keep growing and being an important part of the team. This year is very important for him. He's one of the captains. He has to finish maturing, and I think he's doing it very well. We have also got Luismi back now and he gives us important freshness. We hope that Javi Mier comes back too so that we all have a bit more space, and also because healthy competition is a good thing."
After initially joking that "I don't need to rest" and that "I prefer to play every match", Brugman did admit to feeling the effects of fixture congestion in certain moments. "I felt it a bit in my legs and in the mental aspect, but I'm over it now."
Finally, asked about the large contingent of away fans travelling to Valladolid, Gastón explained that "they keep surprising me more and more. I saw that the tickets had sold out in two hours yesterday and that means that they are happy with the team. That gives us a boost to do everything as well as we can."
