Real Oviedo midfielder Gastón Brugman appeared before the media in the Press Room at El Requexón today, as the first team went back to work.
Ahead of the first training session of the week, the Uruguayan discussed the feeling in the squad following the draw against Las Palmas, saying that "the changing room was in silence. We had given it everything and what would have been a good result for our confidence got away from us."
Asked about one of the final incidents in the match, which saw Pombo brought down in the box but the referee wave play on, Brugman reasoned that "they are in-game situations. I think there was contact, but the officials decided not to give a penalty. It's over now and we have to think about what's coming up."
Regarding his contributions to the team, the midfielder believes that "I've grown a lot. Playing gives you the confidence you need. I've finished recent matches tired, but it's normal. These have been some intense weeks." In addition, with respect to competition for places, Brugman said that "it's something which is crucial in order to grow. Competition gives us oxygen and creates a healthy battle in order to keep growing."
Discussing the next match, against Leganés, Gastón highlighted that "it's going to be difficult. They've changed their coach and it will be a hard week. We are going to go out to win like we do in every match."
Finally, asked how he feels since starting playing in LaLiga Smartbank, Brugman admitted that "I was expecting the standard to be slightly lower, but the intensity and the aggressive way in which teams go out to win is not something I was used to in Italy."
