The Press Room at El Requexón was the setting for the presentation of August’s ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month to Richard Boateng. Boateng was selected as the standout player of the opening matches by fans of ‘Los Azules’, bringing determination and strength to the centre of midfield. The supporters were able to choose between the five players nominated by the beer company through their Twitter handle, @futbolmahou.
After the presentation of the award, Boateng addressed the media gathered in the Press Room. He showed his gratitude for the prize, and declared that, “it’s a trophy that rewards the team’s hard work and effort.”
Regarding the team’s recent results, the midfielder believes that, “we need to work to get the good feeling back, and I hope it returns soon. We aren’t going to surrender nor let our heads drop. We are improving week by week and we need to show it in the matches.” In addition, the Ghanaian reasoned that, “we mustn’t worry. The important thing is finding solutions and moving forward. Worrying would make getting out of this situation more difficult.”
With respect to what he thinks is happening to the team, Boateng commented that, “we aren’t doing things badly. It’s all about confidence. We have to work and be a team. It’s time to be united.”
Asked about his fine contributions in both attack and defence for the team, the Ghanaian pointed out that, “football is the same in every division. It’s all about working hard, battling, and fighting for every ball as if it were the last. That’s what I am doing.”
Finally, regarding the importance of the fans’ backing, Boateng stated that, “they are going to keep cheering us on and they are a great support for us. We need them; without them we are nothing,” he concluded.
