The club's 96th anniversary began this Saturday with a 9-1 victory for Real Oviedo Vetusta against Navarro. Jaime Álvarez's team demonstrated their finishing ability in a great showing.
The team went into the match on Pitch 1 at El Requexón with a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Marc Alegre, René Pérez, Lucas Laso, Osky; Mangel, Yayo, Álex Cardero; Nnoshiri, Chus and Javi Cueto. Navarro kept going throughout the match, but were outplayed by the team from the capital of Asturias.
Los Azules started the match very strongly, posing a threat and breaking through down the wings. The B team dominated the encounter, looking to quick combinations in play to break through the away side's lines. Nnoshiri scored the opening goal in the 25th minute, heading home following a rebound. The first goal really got Vetusta going, and they would hit the back of the net once more two minutes later. Javi Cueto was found by a fantastic ball from Samuel Nnoshiri, and applied the finishing touch to make the score 2-0. The third would arrive in the 37th minute, where Alex Cardero twisted and turned before beating the keeper. Nnoshiri was on target once more with a powerful strike into the top corner to add the fourth. The visitors then made the most of a defensive error to make the score 4-1 at halftime.
Jaime Álvarez brought on Victor Matovu, Pablo, and Joselu at halftime, and the match continued in a same fashion in the second half. Merayo came on as substitutes later on in the half. Javi Cueto, Pablo Menéndez, Pedregal and Matovu all got on the scoresheet, as well as a further own goal by a Navarro CF player.
The B team end today with three more points, once less game to play, and the lead at the top of the table intact. Vetusta will face Praviano in the next league fixture this Wednesday.
