Real Oviedo needed to get back to winning ways at home, and they did so against the only professional football team in Spain who were still unbeaten so far this season.

Anquela went for a change in formation, bringing in Javi Hernández from the Vetusta side, against an Albacete who arrived at the Tartiere unbeaten. The alterations and increase in intensity in the early minutes of the encounter worked to perfection, and Real Oviedo dominated right from the off. The first chance fell to Tejera, with his powerful shot from the edge of the box being denied by Nadal. Joselu had the next shot, but the defence cleared his effort for a corner. It was then that the goal arrived. Ramon Folch nudged what would turn out to be the only goal of the clash in at the back post. There was a real sense of Real Oviedo domination and they continued to push forward in attack without dropping their intensity. Albacete didn’t create any chances, while Real Oviedo had one more good chance, with Bárcenas’ free kick leading to a corner.

The early stages of the second half were again controlled by Anquela’s men. They created several chances, with the best one falling to Joselu. He ran onto a cross from the left, but was denied by Nadal once more. Real Oviedo began to work harder in defence from then on, with Albacete pushing everything forward in attack in search of the draw. The Asturians had a couple of chances on the counter attack. Joselu had one more opportunity, while Ramis’ side got into good positions but without creating much danger. The Tartiere pushed their team on to the end.

This was the team’s first home win of the season, and they will return to training at 10:30 tomorrow at El Requexón.
