Real Oviedo centre back Alejandro Arribas appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today, at the start of another week's training for Los Azules.
After picking up three points against Sporting de Gijón on Saturday, the defender highlighted that "it's a very important victory. The team had been on a bad run, one which we hadn't deserved. We had been outplaying our opponents but hadn't been able to get wins. We needed this victory and winning gives us confidence for the run-in. This victory has to make us step up and get to 50 points."
Asked about his fine defensive performance against Real Oviedo's Asturian rivals, Arribas responded that "we did well, it was a 10/10 job. This is all about runs and we are ok now. We now have to extend this run for as long as possible. We have good centre backs in the squad and any of us can play. It was our turn this time, but we will do well no matter who plays."
With respect to Johannesson's goal, the Captain stated that "if somebody had told you what was going to happen you wouldn't have believed it. He told us that he had dreamt that he was going to play and score. It's something that could only happen to Diegui, I'm so happy for him. He hasn't played much but he hasn't missed a single training session and he deserved it."
Finally, regarding the objective of avoiding relegation, Arribas said that "we need to get the same number of points as last year. The sooner we get them, the better for everybody."
