In the lead-up to Real Oviedo – CD Numancia, Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, has appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

Following another week of training, the Coach admitted that, “we are upset to have lost, but we have to bounce back. Now is the time to turn things around and pick up three points.” In addition, with respect to what it meant to return to the Carlos Tartiere, the Coach pointed out that, “it’s important to go back home. Being the home side gives us extra motivation. The fans back us and the players feel comfortable. The team has to compete and play at the level we desire.”

Regarding the formation he plans to use against CD Numancia, the Carbayón Coach believed that, “it’s not all about how we choose to play. That’s just one more factor. We must fight, play well, and be intense. The
formation comes second. We need attitude and willingness.” Furthermore, talking about the opposition, Anquela pointed out that, “they are towards the top and deserve to be there, and they know what they want. La Liga 1|2|3 is like that, and it all depends on what you do. If we are capable of competing and producing a good performance, we will be in the game.”

Asked about the possible return of Patrik Hidi to the matchday squad, the Coach stated that, “he’s doing well, but he needs game time. He got some minutes in the training match against the B team and it was one of the biggest positives. He has a fantastic attitude, which is what we want most of all. I only ask the players to compete and to be at the level demanded of a Real Oviedo player. He must give us presence and power in midfield.” In addition, talking about whether Mossa and Christian will be available for the weekend’s match, the Coach hopes that “they are ok. We will see what happens tomorrow. I hope they’ll be available. We are generally moving with caution, but I think they’ll be available.”

With respect to Fabbrini’s recovery, the Coach admitted that, “we’ll be glad when he’s back. At the moment I don’t even know if I will be here, since the life of a coach is only ever judged on a three-game basis. If you lose all three then they consider your position. I’m only thinking about Numancia. He has a serious injury and I don’t have a magic wand to fix it. We need to be calm and cautious.”

Finally, asked about the past few matches, where Real Oviedo fell behind before coming back to win, the Head Coach stated that, “we can’t keep conceding so early. We weren’t bad in Valladolid, but we were trailing right from the start. It’s all about attitude. We work on set pieces every week, and one week we benefit from them but the next they harm us. This is the Liga 1|2|3. You have to compete for everything, and we are prepared for a constant battle,” he concluded.
