Real Oviedo's coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared this morning in the Press Room to discuss his feelings regarding this Sunday's game at Reino de León. "There is no other story, we cannot fail. We must go and try to win; I always say "try" because "win", if necessary, we can add afterward. We shouldn't be arrogant. We greatly respect Cultural, as we do all our opponents. We are trying to succeed in the match and continue alive, nothing more."
With both teams needing to win, the Jaén-born coach feels that "both teams are in need because we haven't done our duty. They are a team that know what they want, a very good team in the division. They are playing at home, and we respect them greatly. It is evident that we must be focused. Errors cannot be made. We need to go and fight for the match. We have to try to do our best possible and try to win."
Regarding the absence of Christian Fernández because of his accumulation of yellow cards, Anquela was straightforward: "If he isn't there, someone else will be and hopefully he will have the luck we need." Real Oviedo's coach acknowledges that "we are worried because the whole year is at stake in ninety minutes, the right to live and nothing else. In football, you always have to strain during the ninety minutes. The subject doesn't change, and our approach doesn't either."
When asked if he has prepared special motivation, the coach from Jaén explained that "every week we watch videos of what we are going to find. They are motivated every time I speak, and of course we show them things that they have done when competing against big rivals. So that they see and believe they are capable. But the day that we don't compete or don't give a hundred percent, we won't even tie."
Additionally, and with respect to a possible change in the eleven, he said that "within the team itself, we always change, with the same eleven. We don't have a reason to put in another player. It is an option that's there."
Finally, when asked about the great support that the team will have, with more than 1500 Real Oviedo fans travelling to Reino de León, Anquela indicated that "if they let them have the entire stadium, they're capable of filling it. Because they're for Real Oviedo, and they fight to the death. I don't want to flatter anyone, but I see the feeling, and it is very big. I try to tell the players that. We need one hundred percent from everyone; we cannot disappoint. Neither ourselves or our own. That's the responsibility that goes with seeing the people go where they have to go. With that, we have been winning all year. We can never match their level."
Anquela also wanted to wish Real Oviedo Vetusta luck before their Play Off match this Sunday against Mutilvera. "They are a great team; they work hard. Hopefully they don't get overconfident because football brings surprises, but I think they're ready. If they're promoted, I'd have to congratulate them loudly. Something that needs to be done with Huesca; I am so happy for their promotion to Primera División. I feel a healthy amount of jealousy, and seeing people, who have gone to the ends of the earth with me, enjoying themselves brings me a tremendous amount of joy," he concluded.
