Urbieta this afternoon played host to the clash between Real Oviedo Vetusta and SD Gernika, which formed part of Matchday 11, and finished in a 1-1 draw.

Javi Rozada’s side headed to Guernica aware that league positions would play no part in the match itself, and that they would have to compete and produce a professional performance in order to get a result against Gernika. This premise provided the foundation for the match, which was characterised by the competitiveness of both sides. The play, dangerous chances and possession were equally shared during the first half, with both sides reaching the opposition box but not converting their opportunities. They headed in for halftime with the score 0-0. The B team stayed true to their philosophy during the second half and, although they couldn’t play their usual game, they never stopped looking for the opener. Gernika took the lead from a set-piece move, but ‘Los Azules’ pulled themselves level with a fine Casi goal. He got in front of the home defenders in the heart of the area to score, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Real Oviedo Vetusta once more picked up a point from a difficult away ground and have now gone ten consecutive matches undefeated. Following this draw, the B team will spend another week in the playoff places. They now have two consecutive home matches; against Vitoria and Logroñés.
