Slaviša Jokanović was a Real Oviedo player from 1993 until 1995 and left long-lasting, fond memories with Los Carbayones. He was in attendance at yesterday's fixture at the Carlos Tartiere.
He looked back on his years at Real Oviedo with certain nostalgia and as a place where he made a lot of friends. Playing as a midfielder, his footballing class impressed the fans match after match.
Jokanović was born on 16th August 1968 in the Yugoslavian city of Novi Sad (today part of Serbia). He joined Real Oviedo from Partizan Belgrade on 30th September 1993.
During his first season at Real Oviedo, the 1993-94 campaign, he played 32 matches and scored 7 goals, as well as 6 matches in the Copa del Rey in which he scored another 3 goals.
The former midfielder played 30 league matches during the 1994-95 season, scoring 5 goals.
Jokanović, who has always taken Real Oviedo with him in his heart, is currently a successful coach, who has led teams in Serbia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain, England, Israel and Qatar. He was honoured by club Vice President Manuel Paredes and Director Fernando Corral during halftime of the match, being presented with a personalised shirt to mark his visit.
