Real Oviedo were again backed by more than 1,000 travelling Oviedistas today at El Plantío. The team used its new black and yellow 'sacavera' kit for the first time, on an afternoon of bright sunshine and extreme heat in Burgos.

The opening minutes saw the two teams alternate possession, but gradually the first half began to be dominated by the hosts. Los Azules did not concede as they defended solidly and with discipline, but they were unable to create anything in attack. It was only in the final minutes of the half that Real Oviedo created chances to open the scoring. First a powerful Borja Sánchez strike was heading towards the top corner, but was tipped over the bar by Caro. Koba then hit the post, before Montoro also went close. The two teams went in for halftime with the score 0-0.

Things continued in a similar fashion in the second half. Real Oviedo lost control of the match as the minutes went by. The best chance came from a Sangalli through ball to Bastón, but the forward was unable to bring the ball under control. Bolo turned to his bench, bringing on Bretones, Marcelo and Javi Mier. Two fine saves from Tomeu Nadal were required in order to maintain the clean sheet. Obeng and Hugo Rama came on for the final minutes. Real Oviedo had one final chance, with Borja Bastón bringing the ball down well before curling just wide of the far post.

Real Oviedo added one more point to the tally today in front of the 1,000 travelling Oviedistas. The team returned home to begin preparations for next week's fixture against Ibiza.
