Real Oviedo went into today's Matchday 20 LaLiga Hypermotion fixture against Elche CF with the objective of bidding farewell to the Carlos Tartiere for 2023 with a win. Head Coach Luis Carrión opted to repeat the same starting eleven used against Racing de Santander: Leo Román, Abel, Dani Calvo, Luengo, Lucas, Colombatto, Jimmy, Seoane, Sebas, Masca, and Bastón.

The match didn't get off to the best start for the Asturians, with Óscar Plano heading home the opening goal for the visitors in the 4th minute. Los Carbayones looked to hit back following the early setback. Real Oviedo's first clear chance saw Masca brought down in the area, but the referee waved away the calls for the penalty. However, in the 31st minute the Portuguese attacker would capitalise on a fine Sebas Moyano through ball to slot the ball past the away keeper and make the score 1-1. Just when it seemed that the two teams would go in for the interval with the scores level, Nicolás Fernández made the most of a loose ball inside the box to restore the away team's lead.

Following the half-time break, Los Carbayones looked to find an equaliser as quickly as possible, with Sebas Moyano firing a warning shot just wide during the opening stages. Luis Carrión's side was relentless in its attempts to fight back, and Bastón made the score 2-2 in the 68th minute. The striker tucked home a fine pass from Masca to equalise. Sesé and Alemão came on in place of Seoane and Bastóm during the final moments, and the reward would finally arrive for Real Oviedo. Just when it seemed that the encounter would finish all-square, Sebas Moyano sent the Carlos Tartiere crowd into raptures with a great goal in the 89th minute.

This comeback victory saw the 2023 home campaign come to the best-possible end, with the Asturians moving on to 29 points and continuing their fine run of home wins. The team will travel to face Villarreal B this Thursday, in the final fixture of the year.
