Real Oviedo Vetusta came up against Ourense CF today in their final match of 2023. Los Azules were up against the league leaders, but went into the encounter with the objectives of picking up three points and moving away from the relegation zone. Having put in a good performance against Compostela last time out, Jaime Álvarez today opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco, Lamine, Aimar Collante, Jaime Vázquez, Omar Falah, Yayo, Víctor Blanco, Dieguito, Nacho Estrada, Miguélez and Xavi Sola.
The B team had the very clear intention of dominating the match right from the kick-off. Dieguito and Xavi Sola had the side's best chances during the first half, and only the goal was lacking. The Galicians barely threatened, in what was a very impressive opening 45 minutes from Vetusta.
Jaime Álvarez opted to bring Osky on in place of Omar Falah during the half-time interval. The visitors took a step up during the second half, and the match became more even. Pelayo, Darío, and Izan all also featured as substitutes, in a search to bring more energy to the team, but the goal did not arrive. Dieguito had the best chance, in the 67th minute, following a fine through ball from Miguélez, but he shot wide from the one-on-one.
This point takes Vetusta onto 16 in total going into the Christmas break, and in 14th position in the table. The league campaign will resume on the 7th January, when the B team travel to face Deportivo Fabril.
