The second of the three friendlies which Real Oviedo will play in Cantabria this summer took Los Azules to Ribamontán al Mar, to the Municipal de Baceñuela stadium. Jon Pérez Bolo's team were up against Deportivo Alavés, with the match allowing the team to continue to build up gametime and a good feeling, as preseason progresses.
The Coach opted for a starting eleven made up of Braat; M. Llambrich, Rodri Tarín, Dani Calvo, Alonso Aceves; Luismi, Hugo Rama, Borja Sánchez; Viti, Sangalli and Sergi Enrich.
The first half saw Los Azules make a very bright start, taking control of the ball and beginning to show the passing game in the opposition half that we have become accustomed to watching this summer. Bolo's side regularly made it to the edge of the opponent's box, but couldn't quite find the final ball. The first clear chance came in the 20th minute. A fine link-up between the attackers ended with Hugo Rama firing over the bar from the edge of the area. Deportivo Alavés upped the pressure and began to press Los Azules earlier, having a great opportunity to open the scoring from a free kick. Alavés were quick and caught Bolo's team out, but Braat made a great save to keep the scores level. The Frenchman would then make another fine intervention to help his side out prior to halftime.
Jon Pérez Bolo made changes for the second half, introducing Jimmy, Obeng, Oier Luengo, Abel Bretones and Marcelo Flores. The Ghanaian striker had a chance after just a few minutes, but the defence managed to deal with the threat. The game then entered a physical period with a lot of intensity and contact between the two teams. Javi Mier, Lucas, and Jorge Mier were the next changes used.
With the match entering the final fifteen minutes, Álex Cardero and Lucas Laso came on in place of Sangalli and Tarín, and Bolo's team threatened more. A corner from Javi Mier came in to the back post, and Jorge Mier escaped his marker, but was unable to head home the winner.
The match finished all-square at Ribamontán al Mar, but with a good feeling around Real Oviedo. The team has built up even more work and shown that it works as a block. The Coach was happy and is only thinking about going into the first league fixture in optimal shape.
