Matchday 29 in LaLiga SmartBank saw Real Oviedo welcome CD Leganés to the NMR Carlos Tartiere on Sunday 14th March, with the Asturians falling to a 3-1 home defeat.
Ziganda selected a similar starting eleven to that used last week against Espanyol, with Nahuel and Mossa coming in as the only changes. The line-up for tonight's match was Femenías; Juanjo Nieto, Grippo, Bolaño, Mossa; Sangalli, Edgar, Tejera, Borja Sánchez; Rodri Ríos and Nahuel. Los Carbayones went into the game with the aims of securing another three points and extending their unbeaten run to five matches, but they were unable to do so.
Real Oviedo started the first half well. However, the Madrid-based side took the lead when Javi Hernández's strike from outside the box took an unfortunate deflection and beat Femenías. Now behind on the scoreboard, the Asturian side went looking for an equaliser, trying to dominate the ball, but was unable to find the final ball which would put the attackers through on goal. Ziganda's side looked to crosses from the full backs to create danger, but Leganés were able to deal with all of the attacks launched by the hosts, and halftime arrived with the visitors still holding a 1-0 lead.
The second half began with no changes but with the away side quickly doubling their lead, as Javi Hernández added another to his tally from inside the box. Real Oviedo did not let their heads drop and looked to cut the deficit. Tejera would pull a goal back from the penalty spot, after VAR awarded a spot kick for handball. The goal boosted the home side's morale, and Borja Valle and Blanco Leschuk were brought on to freshen up the attack, while Javi Mier also entered the fray. With twenty minutes remaining, the referee reduced Real Oviedo to ten men by showing Bolaño a second yellow card. The game ended with Real Oviedo pushing for an equaliser, with Grippo going closest as his header slammed against the bar. Leganés added a third with the final kick of the game.
The Asturians were unable to secure the win today, as their four-match unbeaten run came to an end. The team will travel to Son Moix next weekend to face Mallorca.
