Real Oviedo delivered a remarkable performance at the Carlos Tartiere, but ended up losing by the narrowest margin to Atlético de Madrid in a match marked by equality, blue chances, and the visitors' efficiency in the final moments of the game.

The Carbayón team took to the field without fear, ready to face one of the best teams in Spanish football head-on. From the very first minutes, Oviedo showed personality with the ball, high pressing, and an intensity that allowed them to play on equal terms with Atlético throughout the first half.

The blues managed to create the clearest chances before halftime. The most dangerous came just before the break, when Ilyas connected with a great header that seemed destined for the net, but goalkeeper Oblak made a providential save, also clearing with his hand to prevent the first home goal. Just moments later, Reina tested the red-and-white goalkeeper again with a precise shot that forced the Atlético keeper to stretch low to make another remarkable save.

Halftime arrived with the feeling that Oviedo had done enough to take the lead on the scoreboard. After the restart, the script remained similar. The Carbayón team continued to push and seek a reward for their efforts, although Atlético stepped up as the minutes passed and with the changes introduced by Simeone. When it seemed that a draw would be the final result, the decisive action of the match arrived: Julián Álvarez took advantage of a ball inside the area to score the only goal of the game and put the Madrid team ahead.

The goal was a heavy blow for Real Oviedo, who kept trying until the end, driven by their fans, but could not find the way to equalize despite their collective effort.

The defeat leaves a particularly bitter taste for the blues, who competed at a high level and deserved more against a top-tier opponent. The team remains at the bottom of the standings and needs to turn their good performances into results as soon as possible.

With no time for regrets, Real Oviedo is already thinking about their next challenge: this Wednesday, they will visit Vallecas to face Rayo Vallecano in search of a victory to change their momentum.
