Despite one of the best first-half performances of the season, today did not go as expected for Real Oviedo Vetusta, as L'Entregu made the most of set pieces to claim victory.
Los Azules emerged for the match at El Requexón with a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Marc Alegre, Javi Moreno, René, Osky; Alex Cardero, Yayo, Joselu Guerra; Chus, Eloy Ordóñez and Javi Cueto. The side would dominate the entirety of the first half, pinning L'Entregu back in their own half and bombarding Alberto Benito's goal. The front men threatened throughout and were relentless in their search of goals. Eventually a fine piece of play from Chus would see Javi Cueto open the scoring with a subtle finish. L'Entregu equalised four minutes later from a dead ball, however.
The tempo of the encounter decreased after the interval. Real Oviedo Vetusta looked to carry the weight of the match, but were unable to find the final ball to break through the away defence. L'Entregu then made the score 2-1 from another set piece. Jaime Álvarez turned to his bench and brought on David Iglesias and Pablo Menéndez. Vetusta went in search of a leveller, but were unable to find the way through. Pedregal, Victor Matovu, and Lucas Laso came on in the remaining changes for the hosts. The side ended the match looking for quick transitions in play to open up gaps in the visitors' defence, but without success.
Real Oviedo Vetusta have no time to lick their wounds, and will look to get back to winning ways in Llanes on Wednesday. The fixture will kick off at 12:00.
