Real Oviedo winger Marco Sangalli appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today, as the first team went back to work.
The wideman played his first game of the season last weekend and today evaluated the team's start of the season. "If you talk about a poor start to the season it's relative. It's only been two matches. We were on top against Lugo, but two points got away from us. The other day we played against one of the strongest teams in the division (Almería). Not many teams are going to get points there. We competed right to the end, but we didn't create the chances to get the victory. The important thing is to focus on the Tenerife match now in front of our fans. It is going to be an important fixture and we have to get the three points. It's important to get points and not fall behind those at the top. We want to enjoy a calm year and fight for nicer rewards."
Regarding his role in the centre of Ziganda's midfield in recent months, Sangalli argued that "as a player who plays out wide but cuts inside, it's new playing there, but it's not so different. I am trying to learn as much as possible, evolve, and help in any way I can."
Asked about new players settling in and the importance of them reaching peak physical fitness in order to help the team, the midfielder said that "it was a problem last year, because there were players who came in late. This year we have a small core from last year and then important players who have come in. They need to catch on to the Gaffer's ideas and contribute to the team. We had a good squad last year. This year we've made good signings. We have to form a good core and play for something positive."
Finally, asked about the club's objective, the winger declared that "everyone here, from the groundsmen to the President, hopes for us to finish as high as possible. The fans want Real Oviedo to fight to finish at the top of the league and have a good year. The objective is up to the club, they're the ones who have to set it."
