The Carlos Tartiere provided the backdrop for the official presentation of Santi Cazorla as a new Real Oviedo player this Thursday. Club President Martín Peláez joined the midfielder in a presentation which featured many surprises.
With the presentation being watched by the Press and by club employees, the video screens at the stadium projected videos of illustrious Oviedistas who did not want to miss the occasion. Michu, Cervero, Héctor Font, Fernando Alonso, and Sid Lowe welcomed Cazorla, wishing him the best of luck for this new period in his career.
"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being President of this great club and presenting Santi Cazorla. Thank you for coming here, Santi," stated Martín Peláez. Cazorla then took to the microphone, highlighting that "I want to thank Grupo Pachuca; we have been talking for many months. I had been thinking about returning for a long time, and it got closer and closer. I have to stay calm and patient, and get up to speed in order to help the team."
This evening's event also served to reveal the new kit number which will be used by Santi Cazorla during this spell with his beloved club. The midfielder will wear the number 8 shirt as he begins this new adventure; one which has sparked great excitement among Oviedistas.
"I can't quite take in everything that my return has caused and I will forever be grateful to the fans. I want to repay their love, both on and off the field. The fans saved this club and I can identify with them with everything that happened. Giving up is never an option."
