Only the Goal Was Missing

The second match of preseason saw Real Oviedo face Mirandés at the NMR Carlos Tartiere.  The game ended in a 0-0 draw, but Ziganda's side made a very good impression throughout the 90 minutes.
Los Azules began the match with a starting eleven made up of Femenías, Grippo, Arribas, Rodrigo, Juanjo Nieto, Javi Mier, Obeng, Viti Rozada, Borja, Tejera and Mossa.  The side demonstrated great defensive solidity right from the early stages of the game, and carried the weight of the match, creating a huge amount of dangerous chances.  Rodri and Borja Sánchez had the first opportunities of the encounter, but they were unable to finish them off.  Viti converted following a Limones save, but the linesman ruled him offside, and the two teams went in for halftime with the score 0-0.
Ziganda turned to his bench fifteen minutes after the break, bringing on Javi Fernández, Johannesson, Vanderson, Gassan, Jimmy, Bolaño, Riki, Edu Cortina, Lucas and Ton Ripoll.  Los Azules continued to dominate the play, with both teams having chances to open the scoring.  The home defence had a little more work to do, but managed to deal with the threat generated by Mirandés and maintained the solid image they had shown during the first half.
The team will rest tomorrow before returning to work on Monday.  The side will go into the week preparing for the final two preseason matches, against Ponferradina and Athletic Club.
