The latest official presentation in the Press Room at the NMR Carlos Tartiere was held today, with Giorgi Aburjania the protagonist.
The new Real Oviedo midfielder, who has "made a permanent move from Sevilla on a one-year deal, with the option of a second", was accompanied by Francesc Arnau. The club's Director of Football described him as "a player who is going to give us a lot of versatility in the middle of the field, since he can play in several positions, and can play in different ways. Giorgi gives the Coach more options in the midfield."
The Georgian began his presentation by declaring that "from the first moment that Arnau got in contact with us I had it clear in my head. Real Oviedo is a big club and does things very well. This is an exciting project, that's how they put it across to me, and it was key in my decision."
Regarding his return to LaLiga, the midfielder reasoned that "this is a complicated division, but it's a competitive league and we can do good things here." In addition, with respect to his characteristics and what he can bring to the team, Aburjania commented that "that's up to the Coach and Arnau. I don't like to talk about myself, but I am going to give 100% every single day."
The Georgian previously played for Nàstic de Tarragona alongside Mossa and Tejera. Asked about their conversations prior to his move to Real Oviedo, the new signing highlighted that "I spoke to Mossa. He told me great things about the club and about the fans. I've played with both and they're great players. I hope it's a great year for all of us."
With respect to the team and what's been seen so far this season, the Georgian stated that "I saw the two league matches and even the friendly against Athletic. I can see that it's a team with very clear ideas and I hope that it's a good year for all of us. It's a difficult division and we have to take it week by week and step by step. Our aim is to get three points each week so that we can aim towards good objectives. The Segunda is competitive, it's very tough to win, and there are some very experienced players. You can see that in every matchday."
Finally, asked about his availability for the next match, Aburjania said that "I am doing well and available for whenever the Coach feels that he needs me. LaLiga's protocol is what it is. We are training separately and we haven't been in contact with the rest of the squad, but yes, I would like to play at the weekend. We started preseason in June in Holland, so I'm coming here well-prepared."
