Real Oviedo midfielder Joni Montiel appeared before the media today, as the first team went back to training at El Requexón.
Having picked up three important points against Cartagena on Sunday which allowed Real Oviedo to move into sixth place, Montiel discussed the feeling within the changing room. "We are very happy, we'd been trying to do it all year. Cartagena were a direct playoff rival and we've put some distance between us and them. It's good news."
Asked about his good run of form on an individual level, Joni Montiel argued that "we are all in good form, which is important in order to get victories. I want to finish the year well and achieve the objective which would make us all very happy."
With respect to the hard tackle he suffered in Sunday's match, for which Sergio Tejera received a red card, he explained that "I felt it a bit in the moment. I was able to carry on, but today I've woken up with pain. I hope it's nothing. At the time I could keep going, but then I felt pain later. Tejera waited for me afterwards to apologise."
Finally, ahead of the run-in to the season, the attacking midfielder admitted that "I'm going into it with confidence and hungry to show what I can contribute. It's important for us all to contribute to help the team."
