Real Oviedo, in collaboration with the Fundación Azul, presented their new kit this Thursday, a jersey full of symbolism and social commitment. The team from the capital of the Principality is opting this time for the color pink as the main feature, in support of the association 'El Ángel de Javi', to which 10% of the full sale price of each garment will be donated.
Javi is an 8-year-old boy, a fan of Oviedo like his family, who is bravely fighting against NEDAMSS syndrome, a rare and devastating disease that is gradually taking away his ability to speak, move... even to breathe.
'El Ángel de Javi' aims to raise one and a half million euros to bring a pioneering gene therapy to Spain, which could benefit not only Javi but also around twenty other children suffering from this type of severe neuromuscular disease.
The official jersey will be available for purchase starting this Friday in official stores and the club's online store https://realoviedo.shop/. This will not be the only initiative linked to this jersey. The first time the first team wears this kit in an official competition, the jerseys will be auctioned to raise funds that will be entirely donated to the solidarity movement 'El Ángel de Javi'.
In the match next Monday against Osasuna, Javi will wear this jersey to perform the honorary kick-off at the Carlos Tartiere, a jersey that will surely give wings to those who need it most.
