Real Oviedo went into this Sunday's fixture against Mirandés at Anduva with the aim of picking up another win and continuing to climb the table. The three points against SD Eibar last weekend had provided a morale boost for Los Azules, and the team went into Matchday 17 of LaLiga Hypermotion on a great run of form. Head Coach Luis Carrión opted for the following starting eleven: Leo Román, Lucas, Costas, Calvo, Abel Bretones, Luismi, Colombatto, Viti, Paulino, Seoane and Borja Bastón.

Los Azules had the majority of the possession and the control of the ball during the opening minutes, but they weren't able to threaten their opponents too much. Mirandés, meanwhile, sat back and looked to do damage on the counter attack, and they would manage to take the lead from their first clear chance. Javi Martón applied the finishing touch to a fine team move to make the score 1-0. Bastón looked to hit back in the 31st minute, but his effort on the half-turn from a Paulino cross went just wide. The final minutes of the first half were even, and the score remained 1-0 at the interval.

Luis Carrión turned to his bench, bringing on first Sebas Moyano, and later Alemão. Real Oviedo looked to equalise as quickly as possible, but the home team did not make things easy for them. The minutes ticked by, but the Asturians were finding it incredibly difficult to create clear chances. Camarasa and Romario Ibarra came on in the 70th minute in place of Luismi and Viti, as Los Azules looked for greater attacking threat. The team would get their reward in the 85th minute, when Borja Bastón fired home in the 85th minute to make the score 1-1. However, misfortune would see Real Oviedo denied a point. A 91st minute Mirandés corner saw the ball deflect off Dani Calvo and completely deceive Leo Román. The Asturians kept fighting to the final whistle, but in the end they left Miranda de Ebro empty-handed.

This result brought Real Oviedo's run of nine matches unbeaten to an end, but the team is now focused on the coming league fixture against Espanyol. The match will kick off at 20:30 on Friday at the Carlos Tartiere.
