Real Oviedo and David Costas have reached an agreement for the centre back to extend his contract until June 2026.

David Costas is 26 years old and will now remain at the club for another three seasons and continue to be one of the key members of the Real Oviedo defence. The defender has once again demonstrated his commitment to Real Oviedo, which he has now shown for three seasons over the course of two different spells at the club.

The centre back came through the youth teams at Chapela, before joining up with Celta de Vigo and eventually making his first-team debut in the First Division. His progression was clear to see out on the pitch as he became an established part of the Celta first team. He later moved on loan to RCD Mallorca, before starting his first spell at Real Oviedo with another loan deal. During his first half-season at the club, David Costas played a total of 19 matches and scored 3 goals. The defender would spend the next campaign with Barça B, before signing for UD Almería for 2019/20. He returned to Vigo, before beginning his second spell at Real Oviedo. Since rejoining the club, the centre back has played a total of 62 matches, scoring 2 goals, and contributing defensive solidity, ability on the ball, and good aerial play.

David Costas is currently enjoying his holidays, and will join up with preseason training under Álvaro Cervera on 6th July at El Requexón.
