Real Oviedo Head Coach Cuco Ziganda this morning gave the first press conference of preseason at El Requexón.
The Coach took the time to answer the questions sent in by the press,n beginning by analysing the first day of training, and how the team has been upon returning from holiday. "The way in which we have to do the training sessions, individually, does have a positive point, in that we are going to see a clear improvement over time. The players are looking fine." Ziganda also discussed the fact that the team has encountered two positive cases in the squad, seeing it as something normal. He said, "it's happening throughout society. It's a matter of luck, because no matter how much care you take, any family member or unexpected place could mean you catch it. Nobody is free from it. They are young and strong, and we hope that they recover as soon as possible."
With a four-week preseason, the transfer market at a bit of a standstill, and the unusual circumstances surrounding the 2020/21 season, the Coach believes that "we have to be aware that we are all part of it, with the serious health problem which has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths around the world. All of us who love football and what it represents to the people have to safeguard it and adapt to the extra efforts required by the situation. We are going to have to live very responsibly. Health is the priority. Late signings, late contract renewals, unfinished league seasons, no new fixture lists... these are problems for everybody. We will adapt to it without making any excuses of any kind."
