The press room at Carlos Tartiere accommodated the official presentation of Carlos Martínez as a player for Real Oviedo today at midday.

As in every presentation, the player was accompanied by the club's Director of Institutional Relations, César Martín, who gave him a hearty welcome, highlighting that, "he's a right back with a great background. He's joining us from la Real (Sociedad), he's a player with a lot of experience. We're thankful for his desires to be part of the project, he's going to help us a lot. He's a player that's very devoted to the club he plays for, and he's coming with all the enthusiasm in the world".

Carlos Martínez started by evaluating how the negotiations came about so that he could join the Real Oviedo project: "Since they (Real Sociedad) confirmed to me that I wasn't going to be staying a new chapter of my life started, it was time for a change of scenery. Having the possibility to play close to home, with a great club and a city like Oviedo, is something that brought me here today. I wanted to look for something new, and the truth is that I have high hopes. This week we talked about everything, I was interested in the idea of coming here, and being able to be in this club is something really positive. I'm coming here to give my all, contribute experience and help the group".

When asked about how he plays, the right back stated that, "over the course of my career I have changed a lot. In the beginning I was a fiery player, I played very physically, like the old football. As time has gone by, I have molded myself differently, changing the way I play, but always eager. I like to finish the match and be sure that I've given it my all. I'll mold myself into whatever the coach asks me to. Fight, fight, and fight, that's what I'll always do".

Speaking about his knowledge of Real Oviedo, the native of Navarre pointed out that, "I know this club's story, I have acquaintances and they've all said good things. It's all been positive and it's what I was looking for. I am on a good team that is going to give me the opportunity to enjoy playing again. All of these things are what make me want to be here".

When asked whether he had spoken with Juan Antonio Anquela and what he knows about the coach from Jaén, Carlos Martínez stated that, "I haven't spoken with him, but the preseason is about to start. When our schedules match up we'll talk. I know him, I know that he lives and dies with the match and that is something good so that we all feel united. I'm already ready for Monday so I can meet him and my new teammates". Also, when speaking about his feelings, the right back highlights that, "he believes in me, and I know I can contribute so much. I want to have a good preseason and be in top-condition when the league starts".

Finally, when asked about the category and the level of play that he will be part of this year, with the Liga 1|2|3 full of historic teams, the Real Oviedo defender understands that, "The Segunda División is getting interesting, most of all because of the creation of the playoff. This year there are high-level historic teams. I think it's going to be a long season and we must train well, have a good preseason, and fight hard", concluded the Navarran.
