Real Oviedo captain Borja Bastón appeared before the media this morning at El Requexón.

 

The attacker began by taking the opportunity to wish everyone a new year, before moving on to summarise his thoughts on the opening few months of the season, in which injuries "made things difficult for us and we couldn't get into form." However, he declared his optimism for the future, saying that "little by little we are doing better and we hope that 2023 is full of good things."

 

Discussing Atlético de Madrid, Real Oviedo's next opponent in the Copa del Rey, Bastón was clear that "it's one of the best teams in the world. but anything can happen in a one-off match. We knew that we were going to play them and we are excited."

 

The striker, who highlighted how integrated he has felt in the capital of Asturias ever since his arrival in Oviedo, praised the human and footballing qualities of a team which will face Atlético de Madrid at 20:00 this Wednesday at the Carlos Tartiere.
