Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

The Coach began by offering an update on Carlos Hernández, after he was confirmed to have a thigh injury. He stated that, “he’s very annoyed because he wanted to play. He’s not available though, and he has to wait.” In addition, regarding Saúl Berjón and his chances of playing against Sporting, the Coach commented that, “he’s more or less there, but we’ll see tomorrow whether we’ll have him available or not. If they tell me he can play we move forward, and if not then we need to fight. There’s no other option.”

Ahead of Saturday’s match at the Tartiere, the Coach believes that “we have to keep our calm and be aware of what the fans want. We have to compete, do well and win; that’s what we all want.”

Asked how to approach a week like this, Anquela highlighted that, “nothing changes in our way of acting. It’s true that people have tried to take the importance out of it. We have to enjoy it, take it as it comes and be carried by the positive wave. I’ve told them that they’re going to experience something new; something they’ll never forget. What I saw last year was incredible. I see that everyone is excited. It’s true that we aren’t in a position to celebrate, but we have to hook onto it.”

Regarding the opponent and their recent form, the Coach reasoned that, “it will be a difficult match against a good side. They play good football and are very tough. We have to adapt to the task. It’s going to be very nice for us, and we have to know what to do in every moment. The emotional factor is going to be important.” In addition, with respect to possible differences between this match and the corresponding fixture last year, Anquela said that, “we can’t look at what happened last year as a nreference. We won the game and then a few weeks later things changed completely. Whoever wins will be happy, though.”

Finally, regarding his personal feelings, Juan Antonio Anquela commented that, “I still have the excitement, strength and desire that I had on the first day. I haven’t changed in the slightest and I am not going to change things. Football is about results and you have to be yourself in the good times and the bad,” he concluded.
