Today saw another preseason workout for Jon Pérez Bolo’s side, this time against Burgos CF at Les Caleyes, and allowed for several debuts and a good feeling despite the loss. The team continues to show signs of growth, with defensive solidity and creativity in attack. Two attacking players particularly stood out today, in Hugo Rama and Marcelo Flores.
Bolo opted for a starting eleven made up of Tomeu Nadal; Lucas, Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, Alonso Aceves; Jimmy, Javi Mier, Viti; Marcelo Flores, Obeng and Hugo Rama. The first half saw Burgos try to play the ball out from the back, while Real Oviedo were more direct, pressuring the opposition in possession and working hard to recover the ball after losing it. The best chances came from quick transitions in play. A fine piece of play from Marcelo Flores sought out Obeng at the edge of the area, who nudged the ball on to Hugo Rama, who would fire over the bar. The Galician
midfielder would then strike the woodwork minutes later. Burgos did not threaten Tomeu Nadal in the Real Oviedo goal.
The second half saw various changes for either side, and eventually the Burgos goal arrived, as they converted from the penalty spot. A fine piece of play from Miguel Llambrich led to the best chance of an equaliser, but the full back was denied by the keeper. Borja Sánchez and Sergi Enrich played the final twenty minutes of the encounter. The final chance saw a quick counter attack led by Borja Sánchez, who fed the ball wide to Bretones, but the wideman’s fine cross was fired over by Mangel.
A lot of Oviedistas were present in Villaviciosa and Real Oviedo once again received a great deal of affection.
