Today's Matchday 21 fixture in LaLiga SmartBank was not just another match. Real Oviedo were up against Sporting de Gijón, and opted for a starting eleven made up of Braat, Rodri Tarín, Luismi, Viti, Borja Bastón, Dani Calvo, Jimmy, Hugo Rama, Sergi Enrich, Lucas and Abel Bretones.

There was a spectacular atmosphere in the stands of the Carlos Tartiere, with the Oviedistas pushing their team on throughout the encounter. The first half was a hard-fought affair, with desire prevailing over organisation and attractive football.

The second half got underway with Real Oviedo looking more secure out on the pitch, and roared on by a crowd that did not rest in the entire 90 minutes. In the 72nd minute Koba Leïn was brought down in the box for a clear penalty. Two minutes later Borja Bastón would dispatch from the spot, and reinforce the maxim that you don't have to play derbies, you have to win them.

Today's was an important victory for a Real Oviedo side which will go back to work on Tuesday, as they prepare for the Copa del Rey encounter with Granada.
