Real Oviedo were back at the Carlos Tartiere today, coming up against CD Castellón in Matchday 24 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Following the victory in Cartagena and results elsewhere this weekend, Los Azules could not let the win slip away today, in front of a Tartiere crowd which was looking forward to celebrating victory. Javi Calleja opted for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Nacho Vidal, Costas, Dani Calvo, Pomares, Colombatto, De la Hoz, Chaira, Paulino, Portillo, and Alemão.
The opening 45 minutes was an even affair, but the Asturians had the better of the chances. Alemão was engaged in a battle with the centre backs right from the outset, although he was denied penalty claims for a pull in the area. The striker also made a break from the centre of the field, before firing wide. Chaira also tried his luck from the edge of the area, but his fine strike grazed the post. The visitors looked to threaten down the wing and get in behind the Real Oviedo defence, but the backline stood up to the CD Castellón threat well.
The team emerged refreshed after the interval, and Sebas Moyano came on in place of Paulino in the 58th minute. Costas went close to breaking the deadlock from a corner, but his effort went over the bar. The away team also created opportunities, and the match was a real end-to-end encounter. The minutes ticked by, and Calleja brought on Cardero, and then Luengo, Lucas, and Paraschiv. The Romanian forward had the best chance immediately after entering the fray, going through one-on-one with the keeper, but he was denied. Nonetheless, Real Oviedo didn't give up, and in the 93rd minute Alemão pounced on a loose ball in the area to send the Carlos Tartiere crowd wild and provide the first home victory of 2025.
