Jaime Álvarez's side went into today's game fully aware that winning five consecutive matches in Grupo II of the Tercera RFEF Division is not an easy feat and that the encounter with Real Titánico would be a hard-fought affair. The team had to give everything to pick up a point from today's match.
Vetusta opted for a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Pablo Menéndez, Lucas Laso, Javi Moreno, Osky; Joselu Guerra, Mangel, Álex Cardero; Chus, Eloy Ordóñez and Javi Cueto.
The B team was on top during the first half, putting together quick combinations in play in the opponent's half, but was unable to take advantage of any of the various chances they created. Titánico played with tight lines and prevented Los Azules from playing the final ball to work the way through. The two teams went in for halftime with the score goalless.
The second half continued in a similar fashion to in the first half. Los Azules posed a threat, moving the ball from one wing to the other, but found it difficult to find gaps to break through. Iván and Pedregal came on at the start of the second half and brought greater fluidity to the attacking play. Titánico took the lead from a corner in the 53rd minute, when a strike ricocheted off Javi Moreno. The goal opened the match up, with the B team storming forward in attack to turn things around, while Titánico looked to make the most of the gaps to threaten on the counter attack. Isaac and Nnoshiri also entered the fray, with the Nigerian featuring heavily in all of the danger created by Los Azules during the final stages of the game. Marc Alegre came on in the final change, before Álex Cardero finally levelled the scores with a long-range effort.
The B team's winning run came to an end today, but they managed to add a point to the tally and remain top of the table, five points clear of the nearest challenger. Los Azules will face Mosconia next weekend.
